One of the criticisms of the news media that many people make is that journalists emphasize "bad news" rather than "good news". What do you think people mean by that? Do you agree? Why might "news values" mean that journalists are more likely to look for bad news?
Bad news is more interesting to read than good news. This is the reason journalists choose to write the bad news over the good. I agree completely with this statement. It's a harsh reality, but people would rather read the bad news because people like drama. When something bad happens, people want to know what's going on. It's like when you're driving and you see the flashing blue and red lights of a police car up ahead on the side of the road. Traffic preceeds to then slow down because everyone feels the need to look over to the side of the road and see what "bad" thing is happening whether it's an accident or just someone getting a speeding ticket. People prefer the harshness of life over something that is good and happening. They believe

things like that are boring.
